a walk among the cherry blossoms

this past weekend, my friend yasmin & i made a trip down to the tidal basin to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, at their peak. the cherry blossoms were more and more beautiful as we walked along– i was enthralled.

that final weekend of the cherry blossom festival, hundreds if not thousands of people sat under the cherry blossom trees and picnicked, laughed, danced, napped, and celebrated their love for each other. we even saw a guy propose to his girlfriend! it was so sweet.

¬†yasmin mentioned to me that cherry blossoms are meant to symbolize the ephemeral nature of life. i let her words sink in as i realized that lately i’ve felt that life has been getting away from me, somewhere outside of my grasp.

i was excited each time the breeze picked up and sent the cherry blossoms falling through the air.
