i’m SO excited to share today’s feature with you! i recently had the opportunity to take some behind-the-scenes photographs of amber events team at their “rooftop sunset in zanzibar” tablescape at the luxe launch event in pacific palisades! the event was hosted at the bel air bay club, a stunning wedding venue by the coast. for more on the inspiration and concept behind the design, read the interview feature on California Wedding Day here.
over a year ago, i bought a pad of watercolor paper and an assortment of paints and brushes to inspire me to paint more often. i’ve used them sparingly since then, but i still consider the paints a worthy investment and look forward to the day when i can take some watercolor classes for fun! i hope that maybe in the future i’ll become even slightly as talented and advanced as one of my best friends, clara, but in the meantime my personal set of paints are sitting in a mason jar for a rainy day.
all this to say, i recently had the privilege of working with the amber events team on a collaborative shoot, and i was so excited when we chose the theme of watercolor wedding inspiration! i captured the process of creating watercolor table numbers, canvas signs, and banners. we even were able to have one of our brides who created watercolor invitations for her wedding join in on the fun, as a bona fide expert! ;) i had such a great time getting to know jackie, vanessa, and karly of the amber events team, and as well as our bride sara.
here’s a look at our watercolor wedding inspiration shoot! (and just in case you were wondering, at the end of the shoot i was able to indulge in my secret desire to be a better painter with my own watercolor creation, which you can see here!)

a couple months ago, i had the opportunity to photograph ana claudia of olivia macaron in DC! i was so excited to collaborate with ana claudia, the owner one of the hottest new dessert shops in georgetown, as well as with the dc women’s lifestyle blog, the DC Ladies. i’m happy to announce that the shoot has been featured on the DC Ladies! i am always a fan of hearing the stories of other business owners, and ana claudia has an incredible story which you can read on the DC Ladies feature here.
and this post gets even better because YOU can enter to win a dozen macarons from olivia macaron! enter the contest here before monday, august 25th.
here are a few of my favorites from our editorial shoot =)
i’m so glad it’s finally warming up over here so i can do just that– dwell among the mysteries of the earth. can you believe it snowed yesterday?? it actually snowed here in DC, which was a bit of a shocker considering the forecast only called for rain, lol. but i’m super excited about warmer weather because it means i can shoot outside again!!
i recently acquired a new lens and did a test shoot this weekend…. because of the hail/rain/snow mix that happened yesterday, i had to shoot indoors. here are some sneak peeks from the indoor portion of my bridal boudoir inspired shoot! it’s amazing to see how much i’m growing… every shoot i learn something new. my experiences, good, awesome, and less than, along with the practice of shooting…of learning how the body works and where light shines and how shadows fall and how to bring feeling into my images all make me a better artist day by day. and i couldn’t be happier about that. i’m so grateful. these are all self-portraits and they for sure were not easy, but oh so worth it. (i also have been asked to write about my self-portrait process and it’s on my to-blog list! so if you’d like to know how i shot these and wants some tips for you to shoot your own, stay tuned for that! ;))
i can’t wait to shoot the outdoor portion of this shoot soon!
