exciting news!! | style me pretty feature

style me pretty acceptance letter photo

oh my goodness!!! i’m pretty much jumping up and down and hyperventilating because a day i’ve been hoping and praying about for four years has finally come!! i’m going to be published on style me pretty and it feels even better than anything i could have imagined and dreamed of four years ago when i started this journey. exclusive wedding publications are very picky about the weddings and events they publish, so it’s a huge honor for me to have my work featured on their site. i’m just so excited and grateful and my heart is so full! i can’t wait until the feature is live and i’ll be able to share more then!

happy tuesday!

saying yes

IMG_0461_downtown los angeles travel photo
“Just think of all the things we had to say yes to in order to be here,” my new photographer friend said.
“And all the things we said no to,” another chimed in.
My new friends had a point: that exact moment was the sum of a series of choices we each had made– to leave the Navy, to walk away from graduate programs, to leave people, places, and situations that weren’t right for us in pursuit of something greater. The decision we made that evening to leave our homes and potentially brave traffic in order to get to Hollywood and take a chance to learn something new from a fellow photographer and meet new friends.

The decision to say ‘yes’ to ourselves.

I took a sip of my lemonade and leaned in.

“i hope you find a way
to be yourself someday
in weakness or in strength
change can be amazing.
so i pray for the best
i pray for the best for you.”

tools of the trade: business cards

i’m starting a new series on the blog called “tools of the trade,” where i’ll be writing about some of the tools that help me do what i do! this week i’m sharing my business cards! business cards are an essential tool to have in your pocket as a business owner, literally. haha.

my business cards have evolved a bit over the years…

my second business card (2013-2014)

last week i posted a sneak peek of my new business cards and i’m happy to say that they’ve arrived! this time i ordered the luxe cards from moo.com. i loveeee the thickness of the cards, the matte texture, and the fact that they’re vertical! for the past two years i’ve designed my own cards from scratch, but this year i wanted to see what designs moo had to offer. it was really easy to customize the design i chose, and make it unique and my own! the awesome thing about moo is that you can order a pack of business cards with different images on them, which is especially valuable for photographers who shoot different genres (portraits, boudoir, weddings, etc.) or who just want to showcase different images! i’m super excited to start handing these out when i’m out & about representing who i am and what i do.

part of what makes moo so awesome is that you can order cards with different images in the same order. i ordered a set of cards with 5 different front sides =).  i can’t wait til they arrive and i can see how they turned out!
